- eClinicalWorks has announced their entry into the U.S. acute care EHR market with it's cloud-based platform called eClinicalWorks 10i. The platform will be launched next year.
- The initial release will provide inventory management, analytics, support for EDs and ORs, CPOE and bed management. The platform will enable information exchange between ambulatory and acute settings.
- The cloud-based platform will have a lower total cost of ownership than the industry standard, according to the company.

The company is working with strategic partners, including Tidelands Health -- a South Carolina-based health system with three hospitals and 40 outpatient centers -- to bring the platform to market.
Judy Hanover, research director of Provider IT Transformation for IDC Health Insights, said, "A cloud-based acute care EHR would allow organizations to concentrate on workflows and efficiency in the clinical delivery while supporting process re-engineering with digital workflows. The industry is ripe for a new approach."
The company recently received the 2015 U.S. Frost & Sullivan Award for Market Leadership for capturing the highest market share (10%) among all cloud-based EHR vendors, with more than 115,000 physicians using its solutions at more than 50,000 healthcare facilities.
