Board President Barry Cumbest said some citizens have been critical of the board of supervisors for spending money on attorney fees, accountants and other experts in an attempt to analyze the hospital's finances. "The funds we have spent have not been wasted," Cumbest said. "We have shared the financial evaluation done by LaPorte (a New Orleans-based accounting and consulting firm) with the hospital in an attempt to assist them going forward."
