Effective today, Conrado will take over the role from Joseph Impicciche, Ascension’s current chief executive officer.
Impicciche will remain CEO of the Catholic non-profit system.

Since July 2019, Conrado has led Ascension’s strategic plan in his role as executive vice president and chief strategy and innovation officer. Prior to that role, Conrado served on the system’s board of directors from 2014 to 2018 before becoming Ascension’s chief digital officer, where he led the system’s digital technology implementation.
In a statement, CEO Impicciche said that Conrado possessed background and experience to “lead change in this new role as we respond to an evolving healthcare environment.”
In addition to a new president, Ascension also announced that Craig Cordola would pivot from his role as executive vice president and chief information officer, to executive vice president at Ascension Capital, the system’s investment arm.
Ascension operates 139 hospitals in 19 states.
