- Of 98 health care organizations that responded to the survey, 39% said they use between 11 and 50 electronic platforms or interfaces to collect and analyze data; 15% said they use more than 100 systems.
- A report from the Network for Excellence in Health Innovation concludes that such efforts will not reduce costs or improve care unless the industry resolves challenges around standards and methods.
Dive Insight:
As current research suggests, providers have a long way to go before they can make good use of the staggering amount of data they have in-house. Use of data analytics by providers remains immature, according to research by HIMSS Analytics. At some point in the future, providers will be able to use this data to do risk prediction and personalized medicine, but it seems that this might be a long time in the future.
