- The IRS has announced the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) fee will increase from $2.08 to $2.17 per covered life, LifeHealthPro reports.
- The fee will apply to policy and health plan years that end from Oct. 1, 2015 to Oct. 1, 2016.
- Under the ACA, self-insured major medical plans and all health insurers are required to pay the PCORI fee.
PCORI and the fee were created to increase scientific studies to compare existing medical treatments.
For policy and plan years ending through Oct. 1 to September 30, 2019, the HHS secretary will adjust the PCORI fee using National Health Expenditures survey data, LifeHealthPro reports.
