Dive Brief:
- Mike Hash, who currently serves as director of the HHS Office of Health Reform, will leave his post at the end of May, according to a report in Morning Consult.
- Hash will be the third HHS official to step down within the last month, following the extremely troubled rollout of the health insurance exchange website, HealthCare.gov.
- Hash has been leader of the OHR since 2011 and played a significant role in the rollout of the ACA.
Dive Insight:
With HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius resigning as HHS secretary in April, CMS Principal Deputy Administrator Jonathan Blum due to leave his post May 16 and Hash leaving by the end of May, HHS will be seeing a rather substantial turnover of leaders who know the ins and outs of reform as it exists. The people who replace the outgoing health leaders are likely to face a substantial learning curve.
