Name: Jean Fitterer Lance
New title: Chief legal officer and general counsel, Banner Health
Previous title: Vice president of legal services and deputy general counsel, Banner Health
Fitterer Lance replaces David Bixby who plans to retire after a nearly 25-year run at the Phoenix-based health system.
Prior to joining Banner Health in 2019, Fitterer Lance had a long tenure with medical device firm Boston Scientific where she served in numerous roles over two decades including assistant general counsel.
Banner CEO Peter Fine said she will be a strong asset for the health system’s senior leadership team.
“In making this important decision, we realized that Jean was a natural choice after having worked closely with David for the last few years,’’ Fine said in a statement.
Fitterer Lance, who is also a certified public accountant, has played a key role in service line growth and providing guidance on pandemic-related issues, Banner said in a statement.
She graduated from Minnesota State University with an accounting degree and earned her law degree from the University of Minnesota.
