Name: San Oo
Previous title: Senior vice president of engineering, Notion
New title: Chief technology officer, Abridge
The healthcare artificial intelligence company said Oo’s appointment should help lead it through an inflection point as Abridge’s technology expands into more health systems. He’ll replace prior CTO Zachary Lipton, who transitioned into a science advisory role with the company after receiving tenure at Carnegie Mellon University, a spokesperson said.

Oo previously worked at productivity technology company Notion, where he set engineering goals and directions, and Slack, where he helping build engineering organization during the company’s “hypergrowth” era, Abridge said in a Thursday announcement.
“I’ve spent my career building products and platforms that people love to use that are secure and reliable. Now I want to do the same for healthcare, where the stakes are even higher,” Oo said.
Abridge, which was founded in 2018, has grown in eight years from a fledgling startup to a company with a reported $5.3 billion valuation. The company’s technology — which includes an AI scribe, clinical decision support capabilities and revenue-cycle documentation support — is live in more than 270 health systems, including Sutter Health, Duke Health and Yale New Haven Health. Abridge says its platform will support more than 100 million patient conversations this year.
AI technologies have exploded in popularity in recent years. Companies promise it can help with burnout and streamline areas like revenue-cycle management.
Physicians are using generative AI to assist in documenting patient visits. Voice notes can be particularly helpful: Nearly 30% of surveyed physicians said they use a voice-based documentation tool, according to a report published in March by Doximity.
