Tae Hoon Lee, MD, noted gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist, serves on the panel of leading medical experts of MerckManuals.com.
Dr. Lee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Liver Diseases at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York. He is the author of the Fibrosis and Cirrhosis chapter of the Merck Manuals, which is informed by his extensive clinical and research experience with liver disease.
Dr. Lee is currently part of the Institute of Liver Medicine at the Mount Sinai Hospital, where he cares for patients across the full spectrum of liver diseases, with a particular focus on viral hepatitis and liver tumors/cancer. Additional areas of clinical and research interest include liver cancer biomarker, viral hepatitis, fatty liver, and cirrhosis.
Dr. Lee earned his MD from Seoul National University, South Korea in 2002, followed by an internship at the same institution. He then completed research training in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, followed by a residency in internal medicine at Marshall University, West Virginia. Dr. Lee then completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Case Western Reserve University (MetroHealth Program) in Ohio, followed by an additional fellowship in transplant hepatology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
Dr. Lee serves with more than 350 contributors to the Merck Manuals, an authoritative medical reference, and was a paid author for Merck Manuals.
