September 23, 2025– Availity, the nation’s largest real-time health information network, was selected as the single-source, NCQA approved, vendor for provider credentialing intake across SoonerSelect, Oklahoma’s managed care Medicaid network, in collaboration with the three medical plans.
Together, these organizations will deliver an innovative, automated, and simpler credentialing intake process for providers across the state. The solution successfully went live on July 1, 2025.
The state of Oklahoma, in partnership with its Medicaid medical plans partners, sought to establish a single process and expectation for providers in the state to submit applications for SoonerSelect credentialing with its Medicaid programs.
Providers must comply with the credentialing process for each individual medical plan whose insurance they would like to accept at their practice – normally averaging 15 plans, including state Medicaid and Medicare. It’s one step in the process for providers to enroll with medical plans so they can accept that plan’s insurance.
Building on existing provider workflows in Availity’s Provider Portal, Availity’s Credentialing Intake standardizes this process across payers, letting providers complete a single, digital application across many medical plans. It captures all the required information and documents at once in a digital, easy to use interface that eases the burden on providers with tools like reminders when its time to credential and auto-population of fields. It also gives providers transparency into the process through real-time status as applications undergo review and approval.
The decision to centralize and modernize the credentialing application process through Availity’s Credentialing Intake marks a significant initiative to improve the process for SoonerSelect providers for years to come.
The managing medical plans implementing Availity Credentialing Intake will fulfill several key goals for this program:
- Simplification of credentialing for providers in the state through a single process
- Automation of that process to aid and accelerate the credentialing process
- Modernization of the credentialing process through innovative technologies, both now and in the future.
“Over the past two years, Aetna Better Health of Oklahoma, Humana Healthy Horizons, and Oklahoma Complete Health have partnered closely to make certain the administrative experience for SoonerSelect providers is as consistent as possible,” said Haley Faulkenberry, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Association of Health Plans. “The launch of the common credentialing application process is another important milestone in that effort.”
