OneStep, an FDA-listed medical app that uses smartphone motion sensors to provide immediate, clinically validated feedback on gait and mobility, today announced it has launched a continuing education program (CEU) for physical therapists (PT), “The Power of Gait: Harnessing Technology to Transform Patient Care.” Power of Gait is a free, virtual course led by Stephanie DeShano Wakeman, PT DPT and Dr. Eric Robertson, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT.
This digital health education course brings the subtleties of gait and movement to the surface as key indicators of health and assessors of fall risk profile and functional decline, giving PTs the digital health resources and training they need to understand the value of gait and motion analysis and be prepared for real-world application of digital care tools.
By the end of the telehealth training course, participants will be able to:
- Analyze key gait and movement variables
- Integrate remotely obtained gait data to improve clinical decision-making
- Discover how to make the most out of remote therapeutic monitoring (RTM)
- Design and implement interventions to improve gait and movement patterns
- Explore the use of remote monitoring to strengthen the therapeutic alliance and enhance patient engagement
- Identify the common gait parameters correlated with increased fall risk and understand the importance of using test clusters (TUG, STS) to determine fall risk
- Compare and contrast different gait analysis methods/techniques
“OneStep has launched this course to help therapists advance their careers, improve patient outcomes and stay up-to-date with the latest technology, and to make it easier for clinics to offer continuing education to their workforce,” said Tomer Shussman, CEO, OneStep. “In the coming months, we look forward to expanding to occupational therapy (OT), orthotics and prosthetics disciplines as well.”
This course has been approved for 3 credit hours for physical therapists in the following states: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, US Virgin Islands, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
