The Minnesota Health Action Group announced today that Cariloop has been chosen as the winner of its 2018 Innovation Award. The award was presented during the Innovators Showcase at The Action Group’s 11th Annual Employer Leadership Summit on May 11. Cariloop is a caregiver support platform that provides tools and services to help caregivers plan for and manage care of their loved ones.
This is the fifth year The Action Group has sponsored the Innovators Showcase, which gives five health care start-ups an opportunity to demonstrate their product or service to more than 200 Summit attendees. Attendees, including major health care purchasers, health care providers and Minnesota business leaders, selected the winner by popular vote.
“The focus of this year’s Summit was on purpose-driven solutions that help employees live their best lives and provide out-of-the-box alternatives to problems that have negative effects on health outcomes and health care costs,” said Carolyn Pare, president and CEO of The Action Group. “Being a caregiver can be an all-consuming responsibility that has been shown to affect people’s productivity while at work. The Cariloop platform shows potential to both help individual caregivers deal with these added responsibilities, while also reducing the impact on employers.”
Cariloop’s Caregiver Support Platform pairs families with a dedicated health care professional who walks with them throughout the entire caregiving process. As part of the platform, caregivers have a suite of cloud-based tools at their disposal that help them securely collaborate with one another, manage tasks, and organize their loved one’s medical, financial, and legal documentation. Offering on-demand access to an experienced health care coach helps relieve the stress caregivers feel when navigating the complex world of health care for a loved one and provides the personalization employees need to remain focused and productive at work.
“Millions of people in today’s workforce are feeling completely alone as they attempt to Google their way through the challenges of caregiving — often spending hours during the work day communicating with numerous medical, financial, and legal service providers while coordinating next steps with family members,” said Michael Walsh, CEO, Cariloop. “We’re thrilled that employee caregiving is beginning to receive the attention it deserves from corporate America. Receiving this award is further validation that it is time for employers to address the challenges employee caregivers are facing with innovative solutions that foster a culture of support and improve workplace well-being.”
Dave Dickey, CEO of Second Story Sales, returned as moderator for the Showcase, which also included presentations from Geneticure, a company that tests and uses DNA to improve health outcomes and provide personalized medicine; Maven, a digital clinic providing women with accessible, affordable health care; Sandstone Diagnostics, a consumer health company focused on technologies that empower people to measure and improve health markers at home; and Vivante Health, a health care company that creates programs to help those with invisible, neglected, and stigmatized chronic illness overcome barriers.
