Edgewater Skilled Nursing Center is once again recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the Best Nursing Homes in the Nation
On November 16, 2016, U.S. News and World Report released their list of the top rated skilled nursing facilities in the nation. Edgewater Skilled Nursing Center is happy to be named one of the best nursing homes in the nation for the 4th year in a row.
To determine which nursing homes qualify, U.S. News and World Report assigned each skilled nursing facility a rating ranging from 1.0 to 5.0. In order to qualify for “Best Nursing Home,” the facility needs to receive a rating of 4.5 or better. Ratings are determined by taking an average of the five-star rating awarded to a facility by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services over the course of a year. U.S. News and World Report emphasizes the medical quality of a facility by capping the overall rating a facility can receive if they have low ratings in medical quality measures and similarly capping the rating for homes that frequently deliver the lowest amount of intensive rehabilitation therapy they can while still qualifying for enhanced reimbursement from CMS.
U.S. News and World Report awarded less than 13% of nursing homes the “Best Nursing Home” award. Emelyn Lawler, administrator at Edgewater Skilled Nursing Center says, “Everyone at Edgewater Skilled Nursing Center is proud and honored to be awarded the 2016-2017 title of Best Nursing Home. This award given by US News and World Report is a product of our continued dedication and focus on patient care and we are overjoyed to be recognized.”
