Alamitos Belmont Rehabilitation Hospital is once again recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the Best Nursing Homes in the Nation
On November 16, 2016, U.S. News and World Report released their list of the top rated skilled nursing facilities in the nation. Alamitos Belmont Rehabilitation Hospital is happy to be named one of the best nursing homes on top of their 5-star rating by Medicare. Alamitos Belmont has been named “Best Nursing Home” by U.S. News and World Report since 2013
To determine which nursing homes qualify, U.S. News and World Report assigned each skilled nursing facility a rating ranging from 1.0 to 5.0. In order to qualify for “Best Nursing Home,” the facility needs to receive a rating of 4.5 or better. Ratings are determined by taking an average of the five-star rating awarded to a facility by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services over the course of a year. U.S. News and World Report emphasizes the medical quality of a facility by capping the overall rating a facility can receive if they have low ratings in medical quality measures and similarly capping the rating for homes that frequently deliver the lowest amount of intensive rehabilitation therapy they can while still qualifying for enhanced reimbursement from CMS.
U.S. News and World Report awarded less than 13% of nursing homes the “Best Nursing Home” award. Mark Hall, administrator at Alamitos Belmont Rehabilitation Hospital says, “Everyone at Alamitos Belmont Rehabilitation Hospital is proud and honored to have been awarded the 2016-2017 Best Nursing Home title. Patient care is and has always been our focus and this award by US News and World Report is a testament to the kind of care we provide.”
