Dive Brief:
- While most healthcare CEOs are concerned about keeping up with IT, few are prepared for changes that are coming, according to a PricewaterhouseCoopers study.
- The study, which is based on 81 interviews conducted with healthcare CEOs in 28 countries late last year, found that 95% of healthcare CEOs are investigating different ways to use big data, 93% plan to change their tech investments, and 89% plan to improve innovation.
- That being said, though 86% of surveyed healthcare CEOs said social media, the digital economy, mobile devices and big data management are key trends impacting their organization, only one-third had begun implementing or addressed such technology changes.
Dive Insight:
This survey suggests that when it comes to leading edge technologies -- even technologies that affect the CEOs' institutions directly -- there's a lot of foot dragging going on. And I suppose we shouldn't be surprised. After all, it's much easier to talk about tech investment than it is to actually do it.
