Name: Jason Hollar
New title: Chief executive officer
Current title: Chief financial officer
Cardinal Health’s board of directors has selected chief financial officer Jason Hollar to be the healthcare distributor’s new CEO, the company said Thursday.
Hollar will begin serving as the company’s top executive on Sept. 1. Current CEO Mike Kaufmann, who has led Cardinal Health for the past five years and has worked within the company for more than three decades, will step down.
Hollar joined Cardinal as CFO in 2020 and in that time he “has helped Cardinal Health prioritize investments in growth businesses, strengthened the balance sheet, and returned capital to shareholders,” the company said in a statement.
Prior to Cardinal, Hollar served in the CFO role at automotive components company, Tenneco, and retail company Sears Holdings Corporation.
Patricia English will become Cardinal’s interim CFO.
Earlier this year, Cardinal Health and other healthcare companies reached a $26 billion settlement to settle lawsuits alleging that their practices helped fuel the opioid crisis.
