Rick Pollack, the decade-long leader of the American Hospital Association, will retire by the end of 2026, the hospital lobby announced Wednesday.
The AHA is beginning a nationwide search for Pollack’s replacement. The group has hired executive search firm WittKieffer to assist in the hunt.

Pollack will remain “fully engaged” until the search process is complete, the AHA said in a statement.
Prior to becoming CEO of the AHA in 2015, Pollack served for more than 20 years as executive vice president for advocacy and public policy for the association. Pollack joined the AHA in the 1980s, first as vice president and deputy director of its Washington office, according to his LinkedIn.
“It has been an honor and privilege to have had the opportunity to represent the women and men of America’s hospitals who are passionate in their commitment to providing essential public services, keeping people healthy and serving as the cornerstone of care for virtually every community in America,” Pollack said in a statement.
The hospital lobby represents nearly 5,000 hospitals, health systems, networks and other providers. Over 40,000 individual members are a part of the AHA.
