Leading health system to implement IntelliGuide patient advocacy solution to improve patient access and ease financial burden for uninsured and underinsured patients
Orlando, Fla. – March 10, 2020 – PatientMatters, a patient access and advocacy solutions provider helping hospitals and health systems offer patients highly-personalized financial solutions, today announced that Mon Health System, a leading health system serving communities throughout West Virginia, has selected the company’s IntelliGuide patient advocacy solution to enhance financial assistance to its uninsured and underinsured patient populations.
Following a successful engagement with PatientMatters to create a Pre-Access Service Center, Mon Health chose to leverage the company’s advocacy services to further strengthen its ability to provide patients with a positive patient financial experience. With a blend of financial guidance, technology-enabled services and program intelligence, IntelliGuide connects uninsured patients to a broad range of federal, state and local medical benefits, such as Medicaid, Social Security, and Disability, to enhance patient access to care, increase reimbursements and improve the patient experience.
“As Mon Health System continues to expand its footprint in West Virginia, the need to expand our advocacy services became a high priority. Doing so with PatientMatters enabled us to respond effectively and with an experienced partner to meet the financial needs of our larger, diverse patient population,” said Candi Powers, Chief Revenue Cycle Officer at Mon Health System. “We want to help connect our patients to a range of federal, state and local medical benefit options. As a pioneer, PatientMatters brings both the expertise and technology to guide our patients through the complex, and often frustrating, financial process. With the success of our previous work together, PatientMatters has also proven their ability to help us improve reimbursements, allowing us to continue to deliver high-quality care to the community.”
PatientMatters will provide advocacy support to all Mon Health System owned hospitals, including Mon Health Medical Center, Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital, and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. With IntelliGuide, each Mon Health hospital will gain on-site support from PatientMatters’ highly-skilled and experienced advocacy team who will work directly with uninsured and underinsured patients to help connect them to public medical benefit programs.
“We’re honored to continue to support Mon Health System’s efforts to enhance patient access and improve the patient financial experience through our advocacy services,” said David Shelton, CEO at PatientMatters. “Having dedicated resources on-site who can work directly with patients and hold their hands through every step of the financial process can make a world of difference to the patient and change their entire healthcare experience. Mon Health’s commitment to its patients should be applauded and serve as a model for other health systems to follow as healthcare costs continue to increase and margins decrease.”
Since its inception in 1989, PatientMatters has obtained over $17 billion for hospitals representing nearly 4 million patients. To learn more about PatientMatters and the IntelliGuide patient advocacy solution, visit patientmatters.com.
