Health institutions can now publish Job Offers in this network which counts approximately 2,500 physicians from European and other countries.
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that there is a shortage of approximately 4.4 million doctors, nurses and other health professionals globally. The shortage in doctors undermines health care quality, results in longer admission/waiting times and increased workload, and, ultimately, leads to physicians burnout.
Among Doctors, an exclusive networking and collaboration platform for doctors, has now launched a new feature: a service that provides international job positions. Hundreds of job vacancies are now available to the nearly 2500 doctors members of the network, and include positions in various institutions, such as hospitals, research centres, universities, groups of practices and clinics in the UK, Spain, Sweden and other countries.
The job listings are published not only by our team, but also by any medical institution that wants to join the platform. The institutions that join our our platform have the opportunity to publish their job offerings, reaching thousands of carefully screened and verified physicians. In the first few months, the institutions can publish their job offers for free, while in the future a fee will be charged for the service.
"We connect doctors with international institutions, offering them career opportunities on a global scale. For the institutions, it is a highly effective, rigorous and well-targeted channel for recruiting physicians", explains Elena Barla, CEO of Among Doctors. "We face a global challenge of physicians shortage. On one hand, many hospitals and medical centers cannot meet their personnel needs, even in developed countries; On the other hand, there are many doctors who cannot find work in their country and wish to develop their career abroad, where they have better opportunities", says Barla, co-founder of Among Doctors and with extensive management experience in multinationals, including the health sector.
For Harris Lygidakis, Chief Medical Officer and co-founder of Among Doctors, what distinguishes the new functionality of Among Doctors is that "it is based on a network of professional contacts, where its members can show their professional profile and experience. At the same time, the platform facilitates the dissemination of job offers among colleagues and a well-targeted audience. We could say that it is a social professional network for doctors.”
An Exclusive Physicians Network
Among Doctors provides a safe working environment, in which physicians can obtain information, comment on clinical cases, create working groups and connect with peers and experts. Its founders emphasize the fact that it is independent from the pharmaceutical industry: "It is a strictly professional environment independent of the industry. We only admit physicians with their real name and we thoroughly screen them to verify that they are indeed doctors. Being independent of the industry, facilitates collaboration in a neutral, unbiased environment in which physicians can debate freely."
Since its launch, in November 2015, the platform has experienced rapid growth, with a month-to-month registrations rate of 40%. It currently has about 2,500 doctors from over 60 countries and over 40 medical specialties.
Among Doctors was invited to participate at World of Health IT held in Barcelona last November. In addition, it is supported by Microsoft Innovation Center and awarded by MIT Enterprise Forum.
