Dive Insight:
This may not just be about increasing the focus on outpatient care. A spate of big mergers in New Jersey has been driving some consolidation in New York, Crain's reports. Consolidated providers in New Jersey have been able to use some of their heft to keep patients on their side of the river, reducing referrals to New York providers. NYU Langone also added Lutheran Medical Center to its system in April.
