Dive Brief:
- Meridian Health Plan is looking to hire 1,275 employees by the end of the year, which will more than double its workforce. The company anticipates tripling its revenue to $3 billion this year.
- The company has already posted job openings for 827 new positions that range from entry-level call center jobs to those in finance, legal, nursing, case management, care coordination, IT and corporate operations.
- Meridian has also announced plans to raise its minimum pay to $17 per hour in a bid to attract top candidates and to reward current employees.
Dive Insight:
Most of the new positions are being added to support Meridian's Medicaid services in Michigan, Illinois and Iowa, the company says. Membership growth surpassed expectations with the addition of 130,000 in Michigan and 100,000 in Illinois, it says.
Meridian has been in growth mode already this year, recently adding 448 full-time employees to to support Healthy Michigan Medicaid as well as Meridian Rx LLC, the company's nationwide pharmacy benefit management company.
It had also brought in 60 contractors for its IT department, who will be replaced with new Meridian employees over a span of two years.
