Dive Brief:
- A new study by the Medical Group Management Association has found that less than 10% of practices responding to its survey are ready for the switch to ICD-10.
- For the survey, MGMA got responses from more than 570 medical groups comprised of more than 21,000 physicians.
- "The critical coordination that must take place between practices and their software vendor, clearinghouse and health plan partners is not happening at the pace required for a seamless implementation," Susan Turney, MGMA president and CEO said in a statement.
Dive Insight:
With so many doctors behind on ICD-10, we may have a disaster in the making. After all, if doctors aren't ready, it's nearly impossible for health plans to do the testing they need to do, and that's an even bigger issue. It looks like we have a snowballing problem here. At some point soon, something's got to give.
