Dive Insight:
Sorenson announced his retirement in December, Modern Healthcare reported. After retiring from his current roles, Sorenson will serve as the founding director of the Intermountain Healthcare Leadership Institute -- projected to open in 2018 -- which will teach healthcare professionals about quality improvement and cost-effectiveness.
At Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Harrison put together a multi-national workforce with 3,500 members and oversaw clinical and business operations in the new medical campus.
Harrison earned a medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School and completed a residency as well as an internship in pediatric critical care through the University of Utah School of Medicine, during which time he worked in Intermountain’s Primary Children’s Hospital's critical care units, according to the announcement.
Intermountain Board Chair Scott Anderson, CEO of Zions Bank, said in a prepared statement, "Dr. Harrison has impressive experience and a proven track record of leading health organizations and is immensely qualified to build on Intermountain’s legacy and oversee the organization as we continue the work of transforming healthcare to meet the challenges ahead.”
