Dive Brief:
- Last week, Humana and Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) were able to reach a consensus on the terms of a new two-year contract.
- For the duration of the contract, Humana customers will continue to receive services at HCA hospitals in Florida at in-network prices.
- The deal applies to those with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial plans and CarePlus health plans.
Dive Insight:
Around 1.5 million Humana members had already received notice that the contract with HCA was expiring, which meant that HCA hospitals would no longer be considered "in-network." Those residents can now breathe a sigh of relief.
HCA is one of the biggest healthcare providers in the US. The deal will affect more than 1 million Florida members who will continue to have access to around 40 HCA-affiliated Florida hospitals. "We're very pleased to renew our Florida network provider agreement with HCA so that our current and prospective health plan members across Florida can be assured as they enroll this fall in their medical and health benefit plans for the coming year that they will have continuous access to care at HCA's network of hospitals and medical facilities statewide," said Humana Florida Network Management Vice President Randee Lehrer.
