Dive Brief:
- Humana has acquired Florida-based Your Home Advantage, a provider of nurse practitioner in-home visits. The company will become part of Humana At Home, the insurer's home-health services division.
- Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but it is not anticipated to "materially impact Humana's earnings per diluted common share" for this year.
- Even prior to this deal, Humana was a significant part of Your Home Advantage's business, according to Modern Healthcare: Humana subsidiaries and joint ventures accounted for 70% of Your Home Advantage revenue.
Dive Insight:
Regulators have expressed concerns that insurers are using at-home diagnosis to inflate patient risk scores, but recent federal scrutiny of the practice doesn't seem to have concerned Humana enough to hamper investment in that direction.
"The capabilities that Your Home Advantage brings us will help Humana build on the significant clinical results that Humana At Home has achieved for our Medicare Advantage members living with chronic conditions," said Humana At Home president Eric C. Rackow.
"We remain concerned that in-home risk assessments may continue to be used as a tool to identify diagnoses primarily for reimbursement purposes," CMS said earlier this month.
Your Home Advantage provides services across multiple states, with a concentration in Florida, Texas, Georgia and Missouri.
