Dive Insight:
This is a big deal for athenahealth (according to the company, one of the biggest it has netted so far). It marks an important step in the company's strategic push into the inpatient market—it's not difficult to see how success in Trinity Health clinics could lead to deployment in the inpatient setting.
Earlier in the year, Cathie Wood of Ark Investment Management remarked: "My primary focus is to see a deeper penetration into inpatient market and evidence that [athenahealth is] cracking the code in the enterprise. We are looking for reports that athenahealth is getting more enterprise deals. Both are beginning to happen."
