Dive Brief:
- According to the American Medical Group Association (AMGA)'s latest Medical Group Executive and Leadership Compensation Survey, the median total cash compensation for the roles of chief compliance officers (CCOs), chief information officers (CIOs), and chief medical officers (CMOs) has been on a steady rise this year, growing from 11% to 17%.
- The consulting company suggests these upward trends may be the result of increased demand and increased responsibilities for those in these healthcare leadership roles.
- AMGA adds compensation levels for those in most other C-suite positions experienced more moderate changes.
Dive Insight:
The survey also gathered details on the C-suite set's benefits and other perquisites, adding another growing enhancement is the “earned bonus to base ratio,” which is incentive-based compensation earned as a percentage of base salary.
“We believe the data in the report provide an important resource that medical group leaders can use to make management decisions,” said Dr. Donald W. Fisher, CAE, president and CEO of AMGA, in a prepared statement. “The stratification of the data allows improved ability to match pay with the size and scope of the position.”
The survey utilized responses from 65 participating healthcare organizations.
