Dive Brief:
- Health Catalyst has released a new software tool aimed at helping healthcare organizations identify and align selection of quality measures under the Medicare Access & CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA).
- Healthcare organizations can use MACRA Measures & Insights, which has more than 120 data sources, to "track and monitor all MACRA measures across multiple departments," the company stated.
- They can also use the new tool to find areas where physicians are performing well and the quality measures to report to Medicare that will maximize payment under MACRA.
Dive Insight:
The tool — which operates on Health Catalyst’s analytics platform — also allows providers to identify the best measures to include within multiyear value-based care contracts with private insurers. And it permits a deep dive view of performance measures and improvement through a series of filters including specialty, group, individual provide, domain, diagnosis group and more.
Finally, providers can see performance scores in three Merit-based Incentive Payment System performance categories: quality, clinical practice improvement activities and advancing care information.
Many health systems feel ill-prepared to take on MACRA’s reporting challenges, according to a recent Health Catalyst/Peer60 survey of 187 U.S. healthcare executives and senior leaders. When asked what MACRA-related activities posed the greatest challenge, 40% said “compiling metrics for regulatory reporting.” While 95% of executives said they expect to participate in MACRA this year, only 35% reported having a strategy and being well on their way to being MACRA-ready.
