- The witnesses found the body of 69-year-old Sharon Wilson outside the building, although blood trails indicated she had been inside at one time. Wilson appeared to have suffered trauma to her head.
- Two men, Akeem McCloud, 20, and Rafael McCloud, 33, have been arrested in connection with the crime but have not yet been charged.
Dive Insight:
Although the ghost hunters were not supposed to be in the hospital, they still went to the sheriff's office to report the crime. Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong was in the Delta looking for Wilson, who was last seen alive at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, when the call came in. The McClouds were driving the victim's car when they were pulled over for a routine traffic stop.
Despite the fact that he had been in the hospital, David Childers, cofounder of the Mississippi Paranormal Research Institute, told the Detroit Free Press that the old structure is dangerous and should be demolished. Last year, a ceiling caved in on him and some of his team members during a ghost hunt. "Kuhn Hospital has a lot of places inside and out that would be an ideal spot to place a body," he said. "In my opinion they should tear it down. It's condemned and is open for things like this to happen. It's an unsafe environment, there are open elevator shafts, black mold, asbestos and debris, and people ought to stay away from that place. Some spirits just need to be left alone."
