Dive Brief:
- CommonWell Health Alliance has added two new vendors and two new state health information exchanges toward its goal of expanding its provider network to 5,000 sites across the U.S. by the end of this year.
- The new vendors are Caremerge, a developer of a cloud-based care coordination platform that enables real-time clinical staff interaction and collaboration, as well as patient and family engagement; and T-System Inc., which provides technology for episodic care, such as ED documentation in hospitals and emergency and urgent-care centers.
- The state health information exchanges are Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN), which offers integration with the national eHealth Exchange; and the Texas Health Services Authority (THSA), which enables local coordination of HIEs across Texas.
Dive Insight:
As of April 2015, more than 60 providers are live on CommonWell services across 15 states. Services include patient identification, record location, patient privacy and consent and trusted data access, according to the organization's website. "CommonWell is committed to improving healthcare interoperability across the nation and looks forward to discovering new ways to work together with respected and successful interoperability organization, such as MiHIN and THSA," said Nick Knowlton, Commonwell Membership Committee Chair.
CommonWell was founded 2013 to enable healthcare providers to find and share patients' medical information nationwide.
