Dive Insight:
Cleveland Clinic is working with large employers across the US on deals to provide care for their employees. University Hospitals is building new outpatient clinics in Northeast Ohio. And MetroHealth is spending $1.2 billion to make major changes to its main campus.
All three hospitals are working to transform the way they deliver care. Cleveland Clinic has embarked on a "clinical transformation" campaign with a goal of standardizing protocols for dozens of surgeries and other services throughout its hospitals.
University Hospitals' new "high reliability medicine" program has a similar goal.
MetroHealth is using a slightly different strategy. It recently created a department of "integration and transformation," which is focused on consistency of care and on re-thinking hospital orgnization from both a patient and physician standpoint.
