- The Cleveland Clinic announced this week that it is joining the Medicare Shared Savings Program and that it will launch an accountable care organization as a part of its value-based care initiatives.
- The provider network for the new ACO will include Cleveland Clinic physicians in northeast Ohio, as well as a number of independent physicians in the region, the hospital said.
- The announcement noted that Medicare beneficiaries who are assigned to the new ACO can expect to receive details this month.

This announcement comes on the heels of the MSSP's major expansion last month that brought onboard 89 other organizations, adding further strength to the program. In order to join, the new ACO must have 5,000 fee-for-service beneficiaries assigned.
"This is one more way in which we are continuing to accelerate the pace of clinical transformation to keep patient populations as healthy as possible and address the preventive and chronic care needs of every patient," Michael Modic, MD, Cleveland Clinic's chief clinical transformation officer, was quoted by Becker's Hospital Review.
