- Cleveland Clinic, which has been working with employers like Wal-Mart and Boeing Inc. on exclusive provider deals, has expanded to New York. It has announced an alliance with North Shore-LIJ Health System to provide direct-to-employer cardiac care.
- North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, which performs 700 open-heart surgeries and 2,200 interventional procedures annually, will be the "destination site" for referrals from Cleveland Clinic. Through the alliance, companies will cover the entire cost of some major procedures if they choose to go to North Shore.
- Cleveland Clinic and North Shore will be sharing data on research and cardiac cases. North Shore will also have access to clinical trials conducted at Cleveland Clinic. MedStar Health, a hospital group in Maryland and Washington, D.C., is also now partnering with Cleveland Clinic.
