Wellero's app also offered providers instant insurance validation and collection and had about 700 health plans on the platform - including Cambia's Regence BlueCross BlueShield plans.
In 2013 when the app was launched, Wellero's co-founder and president Hanny Freiwat in a company press release stated, "We expect this app to revolutionize the healthcare payment system by engaging the consumer in an educated dialogue with the provider."
