Working in medicine can be serious business, but everyone's got to let their hair down sometimes. So behold: here's five funny videos which demonstrate clearly that healthcare providers haven't lost their sense of humor. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did!
1. UAB Emergency Room Rap
These nurses and techs from the UAB Emergency Department have put together a cute video in which they brag about their mad patient care skillz. As far as we know, this wasn't a PR stunt run by UAB -- just a bunch of ED workers who really like their jobs.
2. Interface: A parody of Lady Gaga's "Poker Face"
Yeah, I know we've all seen guys in white fright wigs writhe around singing about healthcare data interoperability. What? You haven't? Well, then you must check out this wry parody by health IT vendor Nuesoft. The bearded man in the wig will make your day.
3. The Drugs Song by The Amateur Transplants
Sung to the tune of "Modern Major General," this tune has the singer spitting out multi-syllabic drugs names at an amazing clip. Worth a look/listen just to hear him pull it off!
4. HITECH: An infoperetta in three acts
If you don't know health IT -- but agree that it should by all means be funny -- you should check out this charming video by Dr. Ross Martin. It's a sophisticated musical tidbit which tosses in more health IT acronyms than you can shake a stick at. (But even if you're not a geek, you'll be amazed by the section where he sings in a trio by himself.)
5. Diagnosis Wenckebach
Here's an entertaining parody of Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack" in which a group of medical students from the University of Alberta sing about the treatment of a cardiac condition (a second degree atrioventricular block, for those who care) known as Wenckebach. The students clearly had fun making the video, and it's a blast to watch.
